Interactions with customers. This was the only enjoyable time I had there.

Cons:Training was inconsistent and largely left to newer staff, which made it difficult to get up to speed on POS and scheduling systems. Management turnover created confusion, and communication from leadership often felt one-directional — concerns raised by staff were not consistently acknowledged or addressed. Workplace culture at times felt unwelcoming toward newer team members.

I would not choose to work for another EWC location in the future. In my experience, upper management placed a significant amount of pressure on sales, which often made associates feel more like numbers than valued employees.The base pay was low, and the bonus structure was tiered based on how much you sold. To earn a bigger bonus, associates had to consistently sell at a very high level. This was especially challenging at a slower location, where reaching the higher bonus tier was much more difficult regardless of an associate’s effort.There were situations where employees made their coworkers uncomfortable, spoke to others disrespectfully, or even yelled at other coworkers, yet little to no action was taken when those employees were strong performers. It felt as though sales numbers outweighed professionalism and workplace behavior, and certain employees appeared to receive preferential treatment by upper management. As an assistant manager, this made it extremely difficult to enforce policies and expectations fairly. It was challenging to also enforce accountability and consistency, especially since upper management did not address issues equally or when favoritism appeared to influence how they handled situations. Because of that, our location had low employee retention and it was difficult to maintain a stable team. The overall workplace culture was also extremely negative, with frequent gossip, passive-aggressive behavior, and tension between coworkers. This was the most toxic work environment I have personally experienced, and it is not a workplace I would ever return to.

I have literally nothing good to say about this job except that you’ll make good money in tips.

Please take this review seriously. Starting off, European Wax Center takes advantage of their employees and new estheticians trying to make their way in this industry. We are treated like robots. We are not given enough time to perform services. It also doesn’t matter how good of a waxer you are, if you are not hitting your numbers, you are at risk of losing your job. The culture of gossip is absolutely disgusting. I would share intimate details of my life with management, so they could know exactly why I was off that day or why I needed a day off of work, and then suddenly any and everyone at work knew my business, things they did not need to know. It’s gross behavior from management and they should not be sharing private things shared in private meetings with every single employee who works there. The call out system is insane. If you call out you get points, and 8 points mean termination. Doctor’s notes mean nothing. I saw girls actively coming in sick because they didn’t want points. You’re up in peoples faces and private areas, and management doesn’t care if you’re sick while doing that.

Heavy work load and often rushed to do services. You are heavily pushed to encourage the client to add on more services and buy more products to reach a certain quota. This can take away from the client experience if this is encouraged to the same client every time they come in and then they’re expected to get a wax pass.

There’s been multiple instances of employees being endangered by walk-ins and threatened with weapons at my center, and multiple unalivings of front desk agents while they were working at other centers in the state. They say the most important duty is wax pass sales but set the bar too high to reach payout. Prices are unrealistic so making commission off of this is almost impossible.I’ve been made to work 6 days a week, opening shift after closing shifts to make up for hiring only 2 other GSA’s or when they fire managers with no fill ins in place so my breaks can’t be covered sometimes. Using sick hours gets you reprimanded. Policies are not explained most of the time and they get upset after the fact if you aren't aware of them. Tedious work is only paid minimum wage. They watch your every move and take pictures of you for the littlest of things, I got in trouble for eating even though I was off the clock 20 mins before I opened shop. Most of the time manager duties fall on GSA’s and it’s almost impossible to use time off even though waxers and managers do it regularly. My center has hazards that are brought to management but haven’t seen it taken care of. We have to manually turn on the electric box every morning and sometimes our hall light doesn’t turn on. Our outlets have caught up in flames before and our ceiling drips. We have product droughts for weeks and aren’t given necessary cleaning products for weeks or months on end.

Management sucks. In the interview things were made to seem great that training would be the same for everyone as they stated. It was not. The trainer didn’t even train me she was on her phone rude and said you can mirror me for basically 4 days and then do it yourself. The trainer would talk about problems going on even though we went into a whole detailed how we shouldn’t be discussing that. Anyways they are whole backward. I worked prior and they had a better training. The new owners are also related to the old ones and still have a bad turnover rate.
