Paychecks on time, but toxic culture and micromanagement

401k match was only given once per year. There is a ton of favoritism. Career development didn't exist on my team. Very insecure managers, directors and above. Tons of micromanagement. Just a cliche of a toxic company.

Horrible pay and bad for customers, Youre trained to sell people extremely high solar leases and if you dont you will make no money. Managers brainwash reps to sell propsects Sunrun is the best for customers, meanwhile they can get the product insultingly less elsewhere. Lost tons of deals to other companies
The Culture Starts at the Top

The company culture is incredibly toxic. I am deeply concerned by the practices the company appears willing to tolerate and, in some cases, turn a blind eye to.I have personally listened to conference calls where management has told employees that they have no right to ask questions to the Legal Department. One manager went so far as to tell an employee, “You’re just a rep.” She then ended the call by stating, “I got what I needed from you,” and abruptly hung up.I was extremely disappointed by the dismissive and demeaning manner in which this meeting was conducted. Employees should be treated with professionalism and respect, regardless of their position within the company. The tone and conduct displayed during this call were inappropriate and raised serious concerns for me about the company’s management culture and treatment of its employees.Unfortunately, this is not a safe or supportive workplace. When an employee reports discrimination to Human Resources, those concerns should be taken seriously and addressed. Instead, concerns were not acknowledged or addressed.Now, during a company "restructuring", it has been said these positions are no longer needed. That is difficult to reconcile with the fact that this position remain necessary as long as the company has sales representatives working in the field.The timing and circumstances raise serious concerns about how employee complaints are handled and whether employees who report discrimination are protected from adverse treatment. Employees should not have to remain silent about discrimination out of concern that speaking up could put their position at risk.

- Toxic upper leadership- HR does not protect the employee- Retaliation policy is not kept in place- Any type of questions or concerns are brushed off and portrayed as pushback.- Expected to follow blindly- No confidentiality- Laws are disregarded and leadership is okay to operate in a “grey area”

Pros? It was easy to find other employees that were feeling or going thru the same terrible leadership support on the results of their poor discions.
Cons
Cons? Questions were never answered. Direction was never given. Leadership support was nonexistent. Illegal activities and cover ups.
Remote work was great, but culture declined post-COVID

First worked for Vivint Solar. Then the company was bought out by Sunrun. At first it was a good move. Sunrun was a more mature company. Covid killed the culture honestly. Worked remote which was awesome. Then got “encouraged” to be in the office.
Cons
Miss having lunch provided. Miss fun “culture”. COVID killed the office vibe. Work has slowly been getting outsourced.

Culture of Retaliation and Lack of Support: Staff members face disciplinary action and reprimands simply for requesting clarification on policy updates if leadership perceives tone in the inquiry. Furthermore, HR consistently fails to operate as an independent advocate for employees, aligning entirely with upper management rather than addressing legitimate workplace issues.Disregard for Non-Retaliation Policies: Management operates with complete disregard for the company's official non-retaliation policy. Employees who raise concerns, ask operational questions, or express dissenting opinions face active retaliation from leadership without accountability.Misrepresentation of Internal Documents: Standard operational or training documents are being presented to compliance teams as official "legal policies and procedures," despite never having been drafted, reviewed, or approved by the legal department.Scapegoating and Undermining Expertise: Individual employees are unfairly held responsible for broader team dissatisfaction with management. Despite demonstrating five years of consistent, high-quality work, domain expertise is disregarded.Inaccurate and Defective Performance Reviews: Mid-year performance ratings do not reflect actual work performance. While direct operational output was explicitly affirmed as excellent, I received an "Off Track" rating due to:Reaching out to cross-functional departments for policy clarification after my immediate leadership failed to provide answers.Unfounded accusations of influencing team sentiment toward new leadership.Alleged "unsatisfactory training documents." When asked to specify which documents were substandard but was unable to identify them, stating only, "I will look into that and get back to you."Breach of Confidentiality & Externally Drafted Reviews: Confidential details discussed in private meetings were inappropriately cited within my performance evaluation. The supervisor’s inability to address basic specifics about my review strongly indicates that the evaluation was authored by executive management rather than my direct manager, in response to my raising legitimate operational and ethical questions.Summary: The current organizational culture penalizes critical thinking, transparent communication, and ethical standards, demanding total compliance without question. Employees who exercise independent judgment or voice reasonable concerns face active professional stagnation and retaliation.
