Basically a pyramid scheme

12/12/2025 - Jacksonville, NC

Pros

The actual job itself was relatively fun. It was nice going door to door and hearing people's stories. However, you're on your feet all day. You do get the freedom to work at home or go in person, but it's strongly discouraged to stay at home because you have a much smaller chance of landing meeting. You do get the flexibility to eat and take breaks whenever you want which is really nice. I feel like their actual products are really pretty good so it was easier for me to stand behind and I saw a lot of people who got great benefit from it

Cons

When we had the interview it was a group interview and I was not made aware of that. And it wasn't so much of an interview as it was them telling you what they do and why they do it and basically selling it to you and trying to convince you to continue with this job. After that, as long as you show general interest, you're hired. They lied about the expected income. They definitely fluffed it up significantly and they do have little tiny stipulations saying that that is an option or an opportunity, not necessarily set in stone, but they don't usually say that until after you're hired. Typically speaking you could work an entire week and get paid nothing or you could make thousands of dollars. It just depends on your ability to sell and work independently Speaking of working independently, there is almost no support from your supervisor. They threw you to the wolves and give you a little bit of information at the very beginning and expect you to just go off on your own and do your thing. The freedom is nice, but not when compared to missing information because you were never taught to do something and then they expect you to do it. I don't know how. I don't know how people are expected to do it when they don't even know that they are supposed to do it.Regarding some of the pros, I did also see that a lot of people did not get any benefit from it partially because they didn't know what the process was and when an emergency came up they didn't know how to handle it. And also partly because the way that they want you to sell things and the words that you are expected to use is very manipulative and I have a very hard time being able to deliver the same message because I will not lie to my customers The original lead of this area quit Aflac just out of the blue and people were scrambling and it was extremely unorganized. I'm not sure why he left, but found out later that he is still a salesperson but just for a completely different company. And it's interesting to me that he left Aflac without a word and then ~ 2 weeks later joined a different company with the same general job title and responsibilitiesI also want to mention that you're placed with a supervisor so there's basically a team with teams. And they get to receive commission on your sales if they help you. So even if they just sit there and listen, they still get commission for " helping" you. Also regarding the opportunities for advancement, they do have several positions, but usually they will be filled with someone else. And if you're new to the company it's not going to be you so you would have to work for the company for like say 10 plus years to see these advancements

My Review of Aflac — Very Disappointing Experience

12/16/2025 - Fort Lauderdale, FL

Pros

None, the worse carrier on the market.

Cons

The company operates on commission-only pay, yet managers consistently treat agents as if they were salaried employees. We were required to attend endless sales meetings every week, with expectations and pressure that made it feel like a full-time job — but with no base pay at all. There was also a clear lack of transparency during onboarding. The company never mentioned the $90 appointment fee, which only appears later when you leave — unless they quietly deduct it from your commissions without proper disclosure.
