Greystar Reviews

Stressful

04/20/2025 - Duluth, GA

Pros

Commission structure, apartment discount and benefits are really good.

Cons

Micromanaging is an understatement. The Sr. Regional manager and the regional manager were very overbearing and if you didn’t suck up to them, they would do everything to make your job a nightmare. Greystar would also force mandatory fees on new move-ins even if the fees were new and weren’t there when the resident applied. They raised rents 40% or more, they charged residents for everything so it made you wonder what the rent money actually paid for. There were apartments with SEVERE mold problems and the company refused to pay for proper repairs and just cleaned the walls, floors and ceiling and painted. None of the tenants could get their mail because the mailboxes were broken and the company refused to pay to have new mailboxes installed. Working there was so stressful because residents constantly complained about the condition of the apartments and the price of the rent that clearly didn’t go towards maintaining the property.

Great Benefits and Culture

04/23/2025 - Los Angeles, CA

Pros

Lots of opportunity if you work hard.

Cons

Plenty of resources. Sometimes they are unavailable due to the growth of the company.

Management Roulette

04/28/2025 - San Mateo, CA

Pros

•Competitive pay and benefits package.•As one of the largest property management companies, Greystar offers extensive career growth opportunities.•Those who are able to successfully navigate the corporate environment and internal politics will find strong potential for advancement and professional development.

Cons

•Workplace culture can vary greatly by property and leadership team.•Lack of effective oversight can lead to environments where workplace bullying and unethical practices go unaddressed.•Poor management can significantly impact career trajectory, with limited opportunities for internal transfer if conflicts arise.•Concerns about performance may be raised without proper context or due process, sometimes as a means of deflecting leadership accountability.•Despite being a hardworking and dedicated employee, I experienced a toxic environment where concerns were not meaningfully addressed by senior leadership.

Pros & Cons

03/13/2025 - Delray Beach, FL

Pros

Good CommissionGood BenefitsRoom for Growth

Cons

High work pressureUnpredictable work hoursChallenging customer interactions

Work Life Balance

03/11/2025 - Houston, TX

Pros

They offer insurance. Some intro training.

Cons

You will work 50-60 hours a week. They promise a lot to get you on board. It sounds great in theory. The workload is not healthy for anyone on the accountant level. The irony of the “remote” flexibility they openly promote is there is none, unless you are in upper management. The accountants have so many menial tasks it is hard to present quality work when pulled 50 different directions. Never thought I would be worried about pdf file labels with 6+ properties, yet that is what happens. This job is great for a new grad wanting to get experience, new parent wanting flexibility but your average accountant, look elsewhere.
