Your sanity is heavily depending on how liked you are by your manager. I've seen people receive writeups in place of a general reminder or conversation. Work life balance is nearly non existent but depends on the property and manager.

Cons
So much turnover and upper management has way too much on their plate to cater to their properties. Regional managers need less properties to attend to if Greystar wants to keep good managers in the company.

It is a big company, so you are seemingly just a number. Employees needs are not listened too. Residents needs are not taken seriously. Working with Greystar genuinely gave me the worst anxiety of my life.
Great rent discount, but less work/life separation if living onsite

Holy moly. My experience was one of, if not the worst professional job experiences of my life. I might have lost years on my life and certainly earned a grey hair or two. I've never been apart of a more disfunctional and disconnect property all the way up to senior leadership (regional director and regional manager), in my life. I literally felt like my property was the hazing/initiation property of Greystar onboarding. Literally no one lasted more than a year at this particular community because I kid you not, the Asset Managers are one of the worst in all of Austin. I've never felt so powerless and micromanaged by so many people in my professional career in this industry. I disliked every moment of my time with Greystar. I still have some PTSD from this certain property to the point to where if I'm driving down 183 and across a certain street, my mouth gets dry and my palms sweat. There was no, and I repeat no, assistance from Greystar leadership. My director was more focused on getting her 6 week sabatical to really even care about how this community performed. Working 3rd party (fee managed) in Greystar is a nightmare decision. Who do you really work for at the end of the day when you have no support from the company that employes you? If you work for Greystar you need to make sure you work FOR GREYSTAR and not at a "fee managed" site. It is night and day difference from what I was later told after I left. I could literally go on and on about how bad this experience was.
