I loved this job! I got to work on my work and not interact with customers, which can be very anxiety-inducing on the wrong day for me. Getting to focus on my work and always doing the same thing was amazing. I genuinely love the back-of-house experience and think anyone who has had a bad experience with a customer should be able to discover the joys of working back-of-house at least once.
Cons
Once management changed the drama and hostility that was introduced to this job sucked. One of the managers would yell at customers and try to get other employees to back her up on it. Another manager had no idea what she was doing and would flirt with the baker despite both of them being married. I was then expected to keep the store afloat by doing everyone's job because the baker was too busy flirting with the manager. I would sit in the freezer for hours counting cakes to make sure we had enough backstock for the week. I had to manage the back-of-house team and was told by the manager, who didn't even know the dress code, that she didn't like the way I was doing things. I would tell her then maybe she should actually manage the store and she would huff off to talk smack about me to other employees. The stress of all of this is what led me to leave.
