BioLife Plasma Services Reviews

Listen to the bad reviews

09/19/2024 - Warner Robins, GA

Pros

They have very good benefits and vacation policy

Cons

If you want to be over worked and underpaid, this is the place for you. Seriously though, listen to the bad reviews. There is so much favoritism and back stabbing. There are TOO MANY managers/supervisors . You'll have 3 managers telling you to do 3 different things at once. Most of the donors are desperate for money so if you're screening them and they don't pass, they treat you like crap. Biolife also does not adhere to ada so avoid at all costs if you have a disability. There is a HIGH turnover rate for a reason.

No work life balance

09/01/2024 - San Antonio, TX

Pros

the position offered health insurance benefits.

Cons

Although BioLife says they offer health insurance benefits, I never received anything regarding my coverage I was actively paying for even after calling HR and the insurance company, same occurred with hsa card… never received it. Hours are wild. In one week you may open one day and close the next day and open again the following day. If you have small children, it’s extremely difficult to work a schedule like this. This job is great if you are a student, are single or have older kids. Otherwise it’s not worth it.

Had to leave

09/04/2024 - San Antonio, TX

Pros

Had good relationships with my coworkers and had decent pay for an entry level phlebotomist position

Cons

Super busy and on your feet all day and it’s hard to get a job outside of plasma since for some reason it doesn’t really count as experience unless you have a certification as well as plasma experience.

Okay, but stressful environment

09/24/2024 - Ypsilanti, MI

Pros

Great training, and overall easy concepts to follow as every process is standardized.

Cons

Appointment times being so close together make you feel like you’re running around the entire shift struggling to get to everyone. Donors can be extremely rude or inappropriate at times and management will do nothing.

High staff turnover due to disrespectful management and poor compensation

09/12/2024 - Grand Forks, ND

Pros

Quick promotions, steady demand, and free scrubs

Cons

Our center was always understaffed leading to serious risks and high wait times for donors. New hires were rapidly pushed through training to get them on the floor, but because training was rushed, they lacked the knowledge to handle serious adverse events that could happen to donors. They also were prone to making mistakes that lead to more pain for donors. Job turnover was high because 1) base pay was only $15/hr, 2) raises were so negligible that they could hardly be called a raise, 3) schedules were not flexible and subject to change on an hour to hour basis, and 4) management treated its employees as less than human. I was often told to work overtime that night or lose my job, but then management would not want to pay overtime. In these instances, they would often tell me right before closing that they needed me to stay for hours to clean while everyone else went home, but they would not let me access my phone in my locker to notify my family that I would be coming home late. To prevent them from having to pay overtime, they would cut hours elsewhere. Furthermore, this is not a family friendly facility. If you have a family emergency they don’t care and will not show you any grace. It will be counted against you as a strike on your record. They also repeatedly denied requests for certain days off that I needed for school. They felt threatened by any opportunity that would get me out of that place to somewhere that actually treats its employees like humans and pays them a livable wage. One coworker vomited on the floor because we were not allowed to take any bathroom breaks if we weren’t on a planned break, which was either a 30 minute lunch or 10 minute break for a whole day. Phones and personal belongings were put in lockers and could not be accessed except during those breaks. During my time there, management never told me thank you, even after I did all the work that no one else wanted to do (I didn’t have a choice). My only reward was a meeting with management to ask me why I never smiled or made small talk with donors. Maybe if management didn’t treat its employees like robots, I would have been more cheerful.
