Management is the issue

03/05/2025 - Knoxville, TN

Fairly Decent Company, nothing outstanding

03/11/2025 - Cincinnati, OH

Pros

The job is incredibly easy. When it is busy, your day really does go by quickly. And while it is slightly sales-y in nature, the product that they 'tell us to push' are actually things you need for your project, and ultimately you will buy either from us or a competitor, so fair enough to ask us to push it to build basket sales. Benefit costs are very average for a single person, less so for families. The company does have a strong tendency, at least from what I have seen, to promote internally. The company has a fairly transparent culture. Again, nothing outstanding as far as community involvement, and there does seem to be a bit of hesitancy for the company to do anything that may seem to be a political statement in either direction. I have worked for several managers in my time at the company, and I will same the majority of them were not straight white men, so fairly diverse. I cannot speak to equitability.

Cons

When it isn't busy, there isn't much to do outside of finding busy work. There aren't guarantees for sales bonuses, and the ones you do get are measly, until you get to a department manager level and then they're better. While I appreciate there isn't commission to worry about (it does make the whole process more about the customer and less about the dollar amount), it would be nice to be more financially recognized for being top sales drivers in the store, district, region, company, etc. Benefits aren't stellar. Not terrible. Very average, even for the best offerings of coverage.Unfortunately, some of the people they promote internally get special treatment because of who they know, or how much money they bring in for the store. No real cons regarding culture. It would be nice to know what the company thinks on certain issues, given what demographic makes up a majority of the customers that come into the stores. No real cons regarding DEI.

One of the best retail jobs I've had

03/17/2025 - Jacksonville, FL

Pros

It's a good work environment. The employs are helpful and the costumers aren't so bad.

Cons

They don't give you commission and the work can be labor intensive.
