-You can meet very passionate people who share your interests. -If you love animals it can be a fun job sometimes. -I have been through many managers and different staff in my time there. The management and staff can really change the job experience for the better or worse.-With the right team and management you can have a really fulfilling job.- I have had mangers who are extremely passionate about the animals we sell and are very caring. -Customers can be wonderful or awful.***I have friends who work in different petco(s) and have had completely different experiences than I. Your team and management really plays a huge role in the store environment***
Cons
-Petco as an organization has changed since I joined and I don't agree with all of the animal care standards and products we sell.- Sometimes I have felt that some managers put selling an animal over doing what is best for the animal.-When something goes wrong with an animal (illness, ect.) It can be very sad and mentally taxing. -With a weak team and management work can be miserable and stressful.-Some customers really don't care about their pets and see them more as an object than an animal (especially small animals) that can be hard to deal with.-While your mangers for example; your general manger and assistant manger- may care about you the company as a whole doesn't seem to have the interest of it's employees in mind.-Some managers can be really difficult with using your pto and scheduling requests.-Some employees and managers may not be fully educated with the animals we sell and accidentally give out inaccurate advice.-Other employees can be toxic but it once again depends on each individual team.-You are expected to up-sell and sell memberships. You are also expected to be useful in every department. In my opinion the expectations don't always match your pay.

As a junior pet stylist my location started me off at $13hr. However, each day I went home in tips ranging from $20-$70 for the days I worked. The job is repetitive, but simple to get into the swing of it. As a junior pet stylist I bathed, dried, trimmed, buffed, brushed, and cleaned teeth of various dogs.
Cons
The job is physically straining. While Petco’s safety manual states dogs over 80lbs require two people to pick up into a tub, most of the time a stylist has to do it alone. Due to the lack of employees working at my location. Some days even when you are expected to manage a salon alone.
Great people and great discounts, but not the safest when closing.

Not much just when you close be mindful about suspicious people near the end. When putting a repair order, you'd sometimes have to wait a while.

No consistent scheduling for full-time employees. Part-time employees will rarely get more than 20hrs/week. No PTO for part time employees. Favoritism between District-level management, and some Store Managers (inconsistent management)
