An ideal first job with relatively simple tasks and flexible hours. Plus, I'm fortunate enough to have a lovely manager who takes care of my team.


Cons

Upper management expects large workloads to be completed within ever-shrinking staff hours, and area managers seem to change every other month. Very few opportunities for any progression. Poor pay.

flexible hours - could choose my shifts a week in advance which was very handy when navigating university and adolescent social lifeeasy-going staff - management were very easy to get along with and often felt like being on shift with friendsfree food - free 6 inch sandwich for every shift no matter how short. free soft drinks (within reason)taken care of - was paid a decent wage during covid furlough as well as when out for 3 months due to injury

minimum wage - low pay, not enough to live on by itselfcustomers - not such a busy store but this often meant working alone, and this becomes problematic when aggressive, lawless youths enter the store in the evening
