Good company but confusing pay

Pros
I have a great team and that is important in getting through hard days. I like the company, they have 401k matching and insurance. Plus they pay per visit and each visit is usually 30 minutes to an hour long. But they make you use your own car and only pay half the mileage and nothing toward tires, repairs, etc, They really pay based on productivity points, which do not equal one visit, and I still cannot get anyone to explain this to me after two years here. But overall a good job and one of the highest paying nursing jobs.

Flexible schedule, 4 day work week, and all major holidays off.
Cons
SLP caseload is feast or famine. Mostly famine after medicare advantage plans entered the scene. Inconsistencies in caseload mean inconsistent pay.

Pros
The company is very supportive of its employees. The people I work with really feel like a team; they want to see each other succeed as much as they each want to succeed themselves. They check in regularly and are very encouraging of each other. It is a fun and rewarding environment. The clinical staff and the business staff feel like a family.
Cons
Sometimes it is hard to stop working. You may want to answer the work-cell-phone during off-hours to help out that patient that you had been trying to reach all day Friday that finally calls you back Saturday night.

I love how Amedisys is very supportive of the employees, they listen and change when needed. I have a flexible daily schedule and get to help new people daily.

Flexible schedule. You don’t have to “punch a time clock”

Poor work/life balance. Strongly encouraged to work weekends, even though you’re salaried. Supposed to be able to take flextime during the week if you work the weekends but this rarely happens

Management is inefficient, not helpful, chaotic… a different hospice company I worked for was more efficient with a fraction of the in-office staff. Too many cooks in the kitchen. Office morale and culture was a joke.

Working as a Hospice Liaison at Amedisys was disappointing. What I signed up for—helping patients and families during a critical time—was overshadowed by relentless pressure to hit referral quotas. The environment was highly competitive, with liaisons constantly vying for doctors’ attention alongside other hospice providers.Management’s focus on numbers over patient care was demoralizing. Daily meetings revolved around asking, “How many referrals did you get today? How many will you commit to tomorrow?” This approach, paired with unrealistic expectations, took the joy out of the role.With mergers and Wall Street demands driving the culture, the focus shifted further away from patient-centered care. Hospice providers play a critical role, but when choosing one, families should consider how values align with care quality. For me, Amedisys failed to prioritize what matters most.

1.Focus on Numbers Over Patient Care•The emphasis was heavily on meeting referral quotas rather than prioritizing patient and family needs.2.Competitive and Stressful Environment•Constant competition with other hospice providers at referral sources, like physicians’ offices, created a tense and exhausting work environment.3.Micromanagement•Daily check-ins and pressure from multiple layers of management to commit to a specific number of referrals felt excessive and counterproductive.4.Unrealistic Expectations•The culture of setting unattainable goals, then holding employees accountable for missing them, was frustrating and demoralizing.5.Corporate-Driven Culture•The company’s focus on mergers, profitability, and Wall Street expectations made it feel less about providing compassionate care and more about driving revenue.6.Lack of Genuine Support•Relationships with referral sources often felt transactional, with some taking advantage of free meals and meetings without genuine interest in collaboration.
