Brookdale Senior Living Reviews

Head Down and get paid

04/10/2026 - West Allis, WI

Pros

Low operational changes so minimal corporate layoffs.

Cons

Over invested leadership runs the place like a high school gang.

Great training and pay, but high pressure and turnover

04/14/2026 - Wilton, CT

Pros

Excellent training, high pay hourly

Cons

High pressure to sell a dated building that wasn’t priced appropriately given the number of new builds in the area. Also, in the time I was there, I experienced high turnover with upper management- 3 executive directors, 3 different HWD’s and 2 maintenance managers and 2 head chefs. Life expectancy in this position is maximum 2 years.

Great culture with manageable workload, but low pay

04/20/2026 - null

Pros

The culture here is great. There is high turnover though bc the pay is terrible. Workload is manageable and there’s support.

Cons

Not much room for growth. The pay is extremely low.

Love the residents, but management is a disaster

04/09/2026 - Vernon Hills, IL

Pros

Love the residents, job is easy if you are structured, organized , personable ans genuinely want to help the residents

Cons

Management is the worst I have seen in my 50 years in corporate. They quote policy, but cannot show policy specifics, unprofessional and incompetent finance and executive directors. The place is a mess

Too cookie cutter

04/01/2026 - Dayton, OH

Pros

The residents and staff in the community are wonderful. The building was maintained well and it wasn't hard to get assistance from corporate when things were needed. Benefits weren't the best but they were manageable.

Cons

WAY too much corporate involvement and control at a community level. There' s no trust in the managers on site to do their jobs without their complete oversight. There is an expectation that every community be the same rather than recognizing that things in these environments should be personalized for not only the residents, but the families and staff as well. There always seemed to be a need for an extreme reaction to any negative incident, basically someone had to "take the blame". Education was rarely used as an intervention or response and grace was rarely given. Lots of terminations while I was there, on all levels, regardless of intent, job performance prior to the incident, or longevity. The on-call is 24/7/365 and you are expected to work a lot of hours, but this is more industry driven rather than company.

Professional corporate culture, but aides can be unkind

04/27/2026 - West St Paul, MN

Pros

Corporate employees were very professional and cared about your career development.

Cons

Some of the aides were addicted to looking at their phone and weren't always helpful.

Severe understaffing creates significant challenges

04/14/2026 - Shawnee, KS

Pros

None that i can think of

Cons

Severe understaffed within the company and no recognition of it.

Great people and flexible schedule with no complaints

04/27/2026 - Salina, KS

Pros

good people. good work place. flexibility on schedule.

Cons

I never really had any complaints

Supportive residents, but management issues persist

03/28/2026 - Colorado Springs, CO

Pros

Residents and caregivers are usually what makes it tolerable

Cons

Management does not care about staff issues. They will retaliate on staff

Ok place

03/04/2026 - South Kingstown, RI

Pros

Work schedule was flexible and hours were decent

Cons

Work left undone from prior shift. Expected to finish others work on top of your own

Best health insurance

03/04/2026 - Sarasota Springs, FL

Pros

Phenomenal training, especially memory care

Cons

Like any place care staff not training properly

Run

03/27/2026 - Wichita Falls, TX

Pros

Residents are the only pro.

Cons

Micromanagement, poor staffing, retaliation from managers

Sell sell sell

03/11/2026 - North Ft Myers, FL

Pros

When you do make goals there can be good rewards in the ray of bonuses.

Cons

If you’re not the lead sales person be prepared for all the dead end leads. Very sales driven and competitive within company. They do not care about verbal abuse or pour treatments between employees and their are no consequences as long as that person sells. One and done -move on attitude. It’s all about the sale and
