Jacksons Food Stores Reviews
Good benefits even with part time
08/10/2025 - Nampa, ID
Pros
401k even for part time
Cons
There can sometimes be an overwhelming amount of work
Toxic Family Dynamics bleed into work sadly
08/07/2025 - Meridian, ID
Pros
The people. They have amazing people working there.
Cons
This is a family owned business and unfortunately unhealthy family dynamics can affect how good, hard-working people get treated at times. Then add in a leader who is supposed to be neutral with employee relations if you know what I mean who is nothing short of a gossiping, drama-chasing mean girl who will do anything to keep in the good graces of the boss's son (including tossing whoever under the bus) and you have a work environment as toxic as Chernobyl. Unfortunately, many loyal, great people have been run off because of the manipulation of said leader and the unhealthy ways of dealing with things by Dad and Son.
Decent job – No possible upwards mobility

Pros
Free Fountain DrinksHigher than minimum wage starting pay
Cons
Each individual store's culture varies widely and largely dependent on the location and store manager.
Solid company overall

Pros
Pay is good for the area.
Cons
Management can be frustrating at times.
Highly recommend
12/10/2025 - Boise, ID
Pros
Jacksons is a fantastic company to work and I highly recommend. The higher levels including the owner and senior level treat everyone fairly. They are always willing to get hands on and help our ensure the tools needed are made available. Managers are expected to work 40 hours and the only time you work extra is if you can't or don't get ensuring done as needed. The benefits are outstanding for management and hourly team members. I've worked for 4 other large companies and they all pale in comparison to Jacksons leadership, resources and treatment of employees. Jacksons also is a fantastic place to build a career. I wish I had started 20 years ago.
Cons
Since starting I really have not found any negatives to speak of.
Be wary and stay focused on yourself

Pros
Lots of benefits if you’re full timeFast paced so the shifts usually fly byEven if you’re part time, they have a text program where you can get more hours by receiving a text stating which stores need help for different shifts where your store manager is able to ‘loan’ you to that other store for the day.
Cons
Their training is very lacking. Most of your training is done by coworkers and it’s probably 90% tribal knowledge and watching videos. But if you’re ever promoted from a cashier to shift lead or assistant manager, don’t expect to get quality training. If you’re lucky, your manager is an excellent teacher and can give you what you need to perform you job correctly. But don’t expect it. So then when you make mistakes, you’re made to feel like an idiot instead of shown the correct way to do it.Be careful of who you voice your worries to as well because once your boss has it out for you, they will find any reason to get you fired. And trust me, you will get fired or you will be made to feel so miserable that you quit. Upper management listens to the store managers without getting any info from the employee and they just make quick decision to get rid of people instead of actually giving write ups. Or you may have 10 or more write ups and have your job secure. It’s never consistent.
Escaping the usual 9 to 5

Pros
If you really enjoy customer service this is a great position to have. The pay per hour is $2.50 more than a CSR. ( could be diffrent depending on your location) Not working with the same people everyday is a plus in my opinion. Meeting new people everyday. Floater 101You will be sent to work at diffrent stores. Your hour could be diffrent everyday. Your days off are not consistant.Sometime out of town. Jacksons/ Extra Mile are located all over Boise, Meridian also Nampa Kuna and Moutain home.My best advice is to research every store in your district. If you have each stores #, phone number and adress saved in your phone. Add a note in each contacts info regarding if its a Jacksons or Extra Mile. That will keep your from showing up in the wrong color of shirt and being sent home to change it. Its also a policy. You can always keep a spare shirt in your vehicle just to be safe.
Cons
You must have open availability. There is no consistent scheduling. You're covering shifts for employee's that are on vacation or the store is short staffed. If you are late or dont show up, it will not only cause stress and frustration for the store, it will not reflect your reliability. I've heard many managers say they've had negitive experiences while working with floaters so, it's always best to uphold Jacksons standard and be productive.
