Marten Transport Reviews

Supportive camaraderie overshadowed by management's nitpicking

05/12/2026 - null

Pros

Good office camaraderie, regular PTO available for long term employees if you stay there long enough, good overall structure in place to deal with most common trucking company/industry issues.

Cons

Management has a tendency to nitpick issues. Everything is goal and growth oriented as a public company so you're always expected to do more with less. During the current trucking market they keep looking for new ways to trim the fat. This was the first year they didn't provide company calendars to employees, and got rid of the yearly floating PTO day as well. 401k contributions also diminished. There were also blatant sexist/transphobic/homophobic remarks made nearly daily and nothing was ever done about it.

The drivers are the help.

02/21/2026 - Jurupa Valley

Pros

Decent pay and travel around the US.You have to keep moving to get a decent paycheck.

Cons

Fairly decent company but most of the over the weekend and nite dispatchers are extremely lazy and are a bunch of impolite waste of human beings, and the company is definitely aware of that, that’s one of the reasons of their high turnover. And the micromanaging exceeds the sound barrier. And Marten at the moment is not doing well financially, so they are cutting a lot of expenses.

Be cautious and vigilant

01/24/2026 - DeSoto, TX

Pros

They keep you moving, miles aren’t great but you’re constantly moving

Cons

Equipment is bad, only been 2 weeks here, had to fight tooth and nail to get a hotel since it’s the middle of a snow storm right now. Already dealing with equipment issues, oh and if you have anything you need don’t bother your dispatch won’t get ahold of you to fix nothing. The drivers are rude, dispatch sucks and for the reefer side it’s a lot of work for little money

United initiator

Pros

Cons

They will take away any money they can. No Holiday pay. No Breakdown pay. The will deduct money from your pay. Be Careful watch you Pay Check

They don’t care about you

12/02/2025 - null

Pros

Mininmum guaranteed pay is a scam maxed out at 900 on a home daily route There are no pros for this place

Cons

They don’t want you to make to much money , they start holding out on you. Monthly inspections at terminal are complete trash takes way to long to get done . Make sure you NEVER run a stop sign or redlight , because we are human and things happen and it got me fired .

Wouldn’t recommend

11/11/2025 - null

Pros

Easygoing but deadend career, no room for growth instead they’ll fire you

Cons

everything, deadend career, management that doesn’t care, constant layoffs, no growth potential, low pay, no bonuses, false promises, the list goes on.

Pros

Fairish pay (decent second company) Must stay with company 6 months or they charge you transportation and hotel you had during orientation (~$400) OTR is 54 cent plus 8 cent priemium pay as Carrot to chase (don't be late and do everything correct)

Cons

Reefer industry sucks. Very few drop and hooks. Scan in all you paperwork. Spend 5+ hours getting loaded or unloaded and you have to get you trailers washed out, remember to fuel the trailer before you deliver or receiver will refuse you, and pre cool you trailer. Dry van is way less hassle.. I spent 5.5 hours at a shipper and got $30 detention pay. $6 per hourHave to fight to get paid correctly
