Job stability and 4% annual raises, sometimes additional 2-3% raises from union negotiations.
Cons
It is hard to fire people under union protection so there are sometimes under qualified staff and poor management. Environment can also be toxic as a result.

Great work culture, work load isn't too bad depending on your position, managers are compassionate & advocate for their employees. Opportunities for professional development, & managers are genuinely encouraging & enabling an environment where you can easily take off when needed. There is a TON of workweek flexibility.
Cons
The pay is very low, especially with regard to high cost of living. The work is slow, so change & implementation is slow.
