Nice people but plagued by politics and management issues

Pros
Nice People, benefits available, but not that great.
Cons
Too Much Politics and red tape, takes forever to get anything done, management lies to your face, takes a few years to start making even a respectable living, lots of back stabbing, management does not stick up for employees and only care about their bonus checks. They preach to the sales people about how we are here to assist families during their time of need. Then they turn around and pound us to extract every last dollar from every family.

The insurance benefits were the best part of the job.
Cons
Many of the funeral homes were family-owned. They sold the business to SCI, and still have a major influence on operations. There is no room to grow a client base.

Huge upside with earning potential, top reps make $300k+, lots of freedom and flexibility to run your own business. Helping families is amazing.
Cons
You have to be diligent. Leads are not always given to you, you have to learn to build your book of business, prospect and follow up. If you don't know how to sell or close, this job isn't for you.

Every now and then you got to feel like you were helping people. The potential was definitely there to make money.

Extremely sales based. So much cold calling and upselling of products whether you felt good about the product or not.

- Training was 6 weeks and fairly thorough- Great benefits for the families they serve- Good camaraderie among Managers- Company has a good reputation among the public

- For outside sales it's truly the pits...- 2nd level management has no outside sales experience so oblivious with new business development strategies- No budget to go after new business - No passion to think outside the box and engage new marketing ideas- Only concept to "close more deals" is to call and recall the same people that have been in their CRM for 10 to 15 years- High expectations for new people but zero support - No lead protection - too desperate for a close so no one is protected, which has a negative effect on moral - Weekly meetings are 2 hours long and never provide useful sales techniques- 90% Turn over - no one stays once they see for themselves how poorly management is
