Decent benefits. Company mostly abides by state and federal laws.
Cons
Management cares only about revenue. Shareholders care solely about profit and their investment (as they should, but we are treating families as a commodity and not families. The highest ranking (and highest earning) positions are held 90% by non-funeral directors. As long as you are prepared to be disposable and just a serial number attached to a spread sheet in Houston, TX, don't expect to retire with them.

Was a great company before the founder died and when the company cared about their employees

Company lowered commissions, removed bonuses, added more responsibilities, and added terrible management, this is a job for people looking for low pay but lots of work (STAY AWAY!!!)

Expected to cold call prior clients who had lost family members to try to set appointments to visit their homes to sell pre-arranged service pakages. Wide territory expected to use own vehicle with no reimbursement.

-High turnover-Unreachable expectations for someone new to the industry -“Training” is focused on telemarketing, and not the fundamentals which doesn’t give confidence needed when dealing with a sensitive subject like final expenses.

Good compensation for entry level sales if you do the work.
Cons
Lots of free work (you only get the $7.5/hr if your compensation is below minimum wage) so all the bs work they make you do is basically for free

Well established company and the leader in death care, so the comfort in knowing the company is stable. Rewarding work if you are in it to actually help people.Good benefits overall.
Cons
Those in leadership only care about themselves and their compensation.Pay is terrible for the actual work you do. When I left, they were paying the same hourly rate that I started with to new hires 7 years later.Training sub par. This isn't an industry where people should just be thrown in and expected to sink or swim.

Large corporation with the opportunity to make a great salary- if you're a hard working sales person. Decent benefits and time off. I really like what I do and am told I'm good at what I do, I just wish the pay would reflect this.
Cons
The work atmosphere can sometimes be frustrating. Trying to accomplish everything that has to be done at the same time as trying to fix issues and "you should know how to do this" problems can get old, quickly. The biggest problems I see is a huge company constantly acquiring new locations, yet won't put money back into the current ones. It's easy to start looking run down when you won't reinvest in your people and places.
