Sea Mar Community Health Centers Reviews

Benefits are attractivebut management is overwhelming

04/24/2026 - Seattle, WA

Pros

The compensation is good thanks to union interventions. Benefit package is great, but PTO isn't the "gift" they say it is.

Cons

Extremely management heavy, there are managers and supervisors that are constantly emailing and teams messaging to each other while the "worker bees" are stuck with the heavy lifting. The amount of "Do as we say" is ridiculous and leaves the support staff to wade through the chaos of their decisions when the patients are upset. There is extremely minimal positive reinforcement and new employee onboarding is nearly extinct. Be prepared to learn about your benefits by researching them yourself on their website that is poorly made. Many policies and job descriptions are horrifically over stated to be sure that the employee can never say "That is not in my job description". One employee will be expected to do the work of 3-4 on a daily basis. You are not allowed to work if you are sick and if you contract covid you must stay home for 10 days! There is NEVER a way to keep your PTO time unless you lie about being ill.Wages do not change unless the union contract says so, I have never received an annual raise for my work.

Toxic environment with bullying and racism

04/02/2026 - Seattle, WA

Pros

There not a positive thing I can say about this organization.

Cons

I worked at their Gen Psych unit and it was the most traumatic experience I’ve ever had. I have experienced bullying and racism. I’m so happy I left to get a job where I’m well respected and appreciated and received so many opportunities.

Fulfilling work and community service marred by poor management

04/27/2026 - Vancouver, WA

Pros

great team, fulfilling work, loved serving the community

Cons

Some of the worst management I've ever come across. Lots of 'quiet firing' and questionable business practices. Supervisors pick favorites and bully. The retention rate has plummeted.

Cons

MicromanagedFlexibility Pay LeadershipToxic work environment

Cons

.

09/17/2024 - Olympia, WA

Pros

Good work Environment. good peopl

Cons

didn't raise my pay after getting degree

unrealistic productivity expectations and unsupportive management

07/18/2024 - null

Pros

The supportive community among clinicians and coworkers created a positive environment for patient care and professional development.

Cons

Unrealistic productivity expectations led to heavy workloads, with up to 90 patients on caseloads and fully booked schedules.Extensive paperwork and documentation requirements often required completion outside of work hours due to limited administrative support.Management was frequently inaccessible, with delays in responses and minimal support for clinicians.

Professional, willing to take time to answer questions

07/08/2024 - Federal Way, WA

Pros

Betsy, at federal way clinic is the most professional, hardworking and looking to help me when I called the clinic on July 8th at 4:15 pm. She went above and beyond to take hold and get every answer I needed Very kind , very professional, and compassionate to my needs. Best worker there as far as concerned. She needs and deserves a raise . Thanks betsy

Cons

No cons as far as my interaction with Betsy. She was fantastic

Burnout Clinician, love patients and co-workers

07/23/2024 - Seattle, WA

Pros

Love the mission, patients and co-workers. Fulfilling work. Nurse practitioner residency is great as a new clinician and supportive. They have specialists in Sea Mar to consult with and refer patients.

Cons

Overworked and burnout, leadership not really taking steps to address this. Nurse practitioners do not get the same benefits package as the physicians (less CME, PTO, less retirement pay, no sabbaticals). 15 minute visits and 24 patient/day template is hard work, and don't have enough time for inbox management. Clinic culture and dynamic with clinic manager is very clinic dependent; some more chaotic and disorganized than others.

Good for starting out

06/11/2024 - Tacoma, WA

Pros

The Sea Mar system has frequent clinical supervision and opportunities for bonuses for exceeding productivity expectations. If you enjoy being busy this is a great place to do it. Other clinical staff are mostly friendly and collaborative.

Cons

This is a health care system that follows a traditional medical model lead by metrics provided to them from upper management. Our clients are often struggling and relying on us to trouble shoot their barriers for access to care and Sea Mar does not always provide those resources like transportation vouchers or referrals to community services. Sometimes the non-behavioral health team's style (medical model) can impact the behavioral health team.

Constantly violated USERRA

09/10/2025 - Tacoma, WA

Pros

The health benefits were good.

Cons

The Tacoma manager forced me to use PTO for military service back in 2022. I spoke with one of their CEOs and he verbally verified that Sea Mar policy was to use up all PTO before unpaid time off could be approved. Which breaks the law.Section 4316 (d) / 20 CFR 1002.153Service members must, at their request, be permitted to use any vacation leave that had accrued before the beginning of their military service instead of unpaid leave. However, service members cannot be forced to use vacation time for military service. The previous Tacoma manager maintained a toxic environment in which he fat shamed his female employees and constantly made sexual innuendos. When I left the job I submitted an email detailing his actions. Instead of doing anything about him, they (and at the time I did not know they were protecting him by not taking my resignation) transferred me to another location.I was not the only woman he made derogatory comments against, nor was I the only one that reported him.

Upper Management Not the best

01/20/2026 - Seattle, WA

Pros

- The people and the Manager of HR.- The type of work.

Cons

- Upper management always placed blame on HR.- Upper management didn't know anything about HR.- Upper management never made anyone feel valued.- Upper management was/is incompetent and there's a reason so many people left.

Pros and Cons

11/05/2025 - Seattle, WA

Pros

Salary and Benefits are agreeable. Office is not bad; office culture is positive. Healthy CME support. Exposure to complicated cases promotes professional growth. Clinic and Regional level leadership were available, & supportive.

Cons

Patient acuity level is high which makes work a challenge, but that can also be good if you like figuring out underlying problems. Ancillary staff is a mixed bag; those that stay are dedicated, but some positions have been open for months (hiring is a challenge); unfilled support staff positions can put additional pressure on providers. Exposure to constant moral injury from trying to help under-priviledged people in a health care system that only provides for the bare minimum and coping with daily frustration and limitations (but that is a reflection serving this patient population and not specifically related to this organization).

Health education

03/17/2025 - Bellevue, WA

Pros

Great health insurance, very rewarding experience working as a health educator.

Cons

Compensation is not the most equitable considering the cost of living in Bellevue Washington area.
