Supportive team with flexible scheduling but low compensation

Flexible scheduling. Good support from team and upper management. Employee recognition.
Cons
Steady schedule not likely. Not compensated for drive to each client. Clients will book 1-12hrs. Advertised pay is up to $25/hr, but that's only for the 1hr clients making it not worth the drive/time. Regular 4-12hr clients pay is $16 unless pressured into $18/hr. (We shouldn't have to pressure for that)
Don’t work here if you’re trying to pay bills

You have to basically have completely open availability if you want any hours. They tried to schedule me outside of it but with childcare I had to set it and I got cut down to 10 hours.
Rude hiring staff with discrimination concerns

After spending 30 minutes driving time and precious gas to get there, I felt many discrimination concerns by the 2 hiring staff people there, at the Centerville, Ohio location!!Please respect the older seasoned and professional, potential worker and please respect my Bi-Racial Race identity, and my Military patient care experience for my precious country! These are my professional opinions!!
Rewarding work with seniors, but inconsistent hours

Helping seniors with day to day things that they can no longer do on their own. Getting to learn so many things about when they were younger, they always have alot of stories to share.
Cons
Sometimes not enough clients or the client doesnt have enough hours. Traveling far during bad weather. client can cancel at any time.

Sometimes clients can be difficult (but it’s expected with seniors or ones with dementia and health issues) or have houses that are not kept the best. Office staff is accommodating and helpful with any issues.

The company will not only fire you but also act as if your wrong for advocating for your patient who states they don't want to take their Xanax something that is taken as needed but your relief aide works overnight and is literally trying to force it upon the client so they can sleep their whole shift. Also they may have you do something I now know should've never happened which is with hold the clients narcotics meds for "their safety" even though the client is of sound mind and can administer the medication to themselves appropriately and this will most likely make your client very upset with you rightfully so but your just trying to do what VA staff has directed you to do and finally you may end up getting assaulted by a stranger that let's themselves into your clients home yelling demands at you and the client and getting irate with you and you don't even know who they are on your first day don't expect VA to protect you from a situation they should've never let happen no matter how well you did your job they still will just quietly let you go because you don't really matter in the grand scheme of it all work where you want but if you choose here just remember you were warned!
