Independent work is great, but management prioritizes productivity over safety

I worked as a weekend baylor so working independently without the office drama was a plus. Helping patients in their home environment is a plus for this type of work, it is rewarding.

The biggest issue is a management culture that prioritizes productivity and the business over the safety and well-being of its clinicians. Clinicians are routinely put in positions where they are expected to figure out how to make an unsafe or unreasonable situation work rather than being supported when they raise legitimate concerns.Communication from management can be incredibly defensive and dismissive. Instead of listening to concerns or taking accountability, the response is often to justify the situation, explain why the clinician is wrong, or find a way to shift responsibility back onto the employee. That attitude is exhausting and is a major reason the work environment becomes so toxic.There is far too much emphasis on getting the job done at all costs. Patient care should never be treated like a numbers game, and clinicians should not have to choose between protecting their professional judgment and meeting unrealistic expectations.The lack of genuine support is especially frustrating for experienced clinicians. When employees repeatedly raise concerns about safety, staffing, workload, or patient care and feel ignored, eventually they stop trying to fix the problems and simply leave. High turnover should not be treated as a staffing problem alone—it should be viewed as a warning sign that something is fundamentally wrong with the work environment.My experience with this organization ultimately left me feeling that clinicians are replaceable and that maintaining productivity is more important than maintaining a safe and respectful workplace. The constant defensiveness, lack of accountability, and failure to meaningfully address legitimate concerns are a significant part of why I would not recommend this workplace to other clinicians.

The company did not show care for employees or clients. Top priority was making money. Policies and procedures kept changing according to Medicare rules to take advantage of the largest Medicare reimbursements without thinking first about the needs of the clients and employees. The expectations were very high and support for employees was low.
