I appreciated the opportunity to be part of a new restaurant opening. Being part of the launch process was a valuable experience, and I enjoyed working with some great team members. I came into the role with a strong work ethic, a willingness to learn, and a desire to contribute to the success of the location.
Cons
The biggest challenges I experienced were related to communication, training consistency, and operational organization.During the opening process, trainers were brought in to help prepare employees, but the training experience was not always consistent. Different employees were trained on different responsibilities, and some areas of the job were not fully covered. This created situations where employees were expected to know processes or tasks they had not received complete training on, and those gaps could then be viewed as performance issues rather than opportunities for additional training and support.There also appeared to be communication gaps between members of management. When leadership is not aligned, it can create confusion around expectations, procedures, and direction for employees. A strong operation requires managers to have consistent communication and a shared understanding of processes.Another challenge was the difference between the expectations communicated during hiring and the scheduling experience after starting. Positions were presented as full-time opportunities, but employees were not always provided with a consistent full-time schedule. Clear communication around scheduling expectations would help employees better understand the role and plan accordingly.

Nice management. Lower tipout to busser and bar, so take home a larger portion of my tips than some other restaurants. Uniform flexible, any pants we want as long as we wear a Chuy's logo shirt (all emplyees get multiple in different colors). Customers are mostly nice and easy-going. There were also opportunities to move up and step into management for servers which was nice.
Cons
Low priced menu items, so lower tips in comparison to more expensive restaurants in the area. Sometimes was a lot of work for the pay (had sidework like cleaning machines and tables, then always had to refill chips and sauces and customers didn't pay for those unless it was queso so some of the labor felt "for free"
