The pay is solid, but it’s preset at a corporate level

Prepare to do the same thing every day. Prepare for your Chinese managers to talk to you any way they please. Prepare to only be moved around or up as they deem necessary.

Extremely disorganized from top down. Very poor communication from top down. Poor execution from top down. Restaurant level management 80% incompetent with lots of people in management positons because there was nobody else who was actually good. Most could not do their jobs up to a reasonable standard. Non existant training for managers - I had 0 organized training and had to learn on my own, on the clock, for years. The organization runs on the back of its managers sacrificing time off the clock while being perpetually understaffed (decades at this point) , being told to 'deal with it' while no real aid materialized (hiring more management and trained them properly), Throws high salaries managers and serving staff (not BOH) so they shut up and deal with it. Incompetent management (80% incompetent all around) . Has grand ideas without actually executing on most of them. A lot of talk that never materializes. Starts things, then forgets to follow up, and then abandons ideas. Sudden changes without any communication. The company runs and makes money as a business, and will continue to do well financially, but was a poor employer with poor culture and about 80% of all management was incompetent and could not do their jobs.

Managers have Favourites, if you just go do your job (that too well) but not kissing managers behind … you won’t get that far. Always some change happening. Felt like I faced some very subtle racism too.

Great tips because it's almost always busy. Easy to get promoted if you work hard. Started as a greeter, became a server in 4 months, and a bartender within a year of working there. Training process is extensive, but it really helps.

Stressful during the weekends when the waittimes are over 3 hours.
