Outback gave me tremendous opportunities to grow. I started in hourly positions and eventually became a Managing Partner, and along the way I learned leadership, operations, financial accountability, hiring, training, and how to run a business. There is a strong culture of ownership and accountability, and high performers can be given significant responsibility and opportunities to advance. Some of the relationships and leadership lessons I gained there have stayed with me well beyond the restaurant industry.

Restaurant leadership is demanding, and the hours and expectations can make work-life balance difficult, especially at the management and Managing Partner level. You are responsible for a lot at once, including people, operations, financial results, guest experience, and staffing challenges. The experience can also vary significantly depending on the leadership and culture within your particular location or region.

The management has a high turnover rate, the head manager can't handle stress and will micromanage everyone/everything, I've seen more customers yell at/punch staff than anywhere else I work, mandatory 6% tip out for kitchen staff because corporate won't pay their employees enough, get stiffed every 3-4 tables regardless of level of service
