Pay.UBRCC (Credit card) goals and pressure to sign guests up. Ugh. Hours schedule/inconsistent.Call outs/short staffed.The 25% of nasty customers. Theft. Store specific-disorganized and always behind on plano.

Micro manage, management, low base pay, no annual raises, have to hustle hard to hit commission, no deposit from clients who no call no show which completely ruins our goal to commission. Salon management knows nothing about hair, which is an issue at multiple Ulta locations, just not GG location. Don’t get support when needed from management. Always have to make a run to salon centric because we almost never recieve orders of product on time, Terrible booking software, commission scale

Now where to start lol… This has got to be the most toxic work environment I have ever encountered. Luckily I was warned about toxic management from fellow employees, however some managers in particular want to be back in high school and make it known in their behavior. One manager in particular was very nit-picky to anything I did to the point it felt like bullying. There was a lack of training as well and they would get frustrated with any mistakes. Normal managers allow employees the room to make mistakes, and you know, give proper training. I was clueless to what I was selling in certain areas to the point it was embarrassing and I was also hired for one position and put on another. When I had brought this up to management they had allowed me to switch to my initial position until the ego maniac manager caught wind of it and said that wouldn’t be happening. Minimum wage is not worth this headache of a job.

If you love to industry it is fun and somewhat rewarding. I did love the job for the most part. Event days are a lot of fun.
Cons
Can be toxic. Gossiping drama environment. Doesn’t pay well. You could get 30 hours one week and 5 the next. You never know.it is hard to work in a lot of fragrance.

It doesn’t matter if you’re good or not. They want you to sell products that are HIGH END. Plus they PUSH for credit cards. Like my hours got cut because I didn’t push for cards

The exposure to both services and brand trainings throughout the company

You are subjected to unrealistic retail goals even if your services grow. Your hours and full time status are not guaranteed due to traffic outside of your control. There’s no room for career advancement. You end up becoming a default beauty advisor for other retail tasks outside of your job description. Also, not taken into consideration for career advancement due to the department despite working in all departments on a daily basis.
